Kimberly Traverso
Board Member

Kim is a core team member of the Connecticut State Department of Education Next Generation Student Supports Division. Her work is grounded in statewide systems of support for the reduction and elimination of punitive discipline and bias, specifically Pre-K thru 2nd grade and disproportionality. She works closely on the SBE Five-year Comprehensive Plan and the CT Next Generation Accountability System regarding social-emotional learning, college and career readiness (school counseling), and the educator evaluation system. Additionally, she is a cross-divisional team member for equity, school climate, discipline and the Early Childhood Trauma Collaborative.

Kim is the Bureau of Special Education program manager for the State Performance Indicator 4. She assures that procedural safeguards and standards are followed and that the quality of the programming for students with disabilities is achieved regarding suspension and expulsion. In addition, she is the Project Manager on the School Climate Transformation Grant and served for seven years as a central office Director for Student Support Services/Admissions and Educator Recruitment and Retention. Currently, she is completing her Ph.D. in Education Psychology at the University of Connecticut.
