Steve Quester

Racial Justice Strategist & Coach (Consultant)

Steve Quester (he, him, his) is a white, Jewish, queer, cisgender male early childhood educator living on Lenape land in Brooklyn, New York. He served for 28 years in New York City’s public schools, from which he retired in 2018, and was an educator in a Jewish day school before that.The Undoing Racism Workshop of the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond brought him into antiracist pedagogy and organizing. He organizes with PISAB, and works with the Center for Racial Justice in Education and Firefly Worldwide, in addition to his work with RE-Center. He is a veteran of the struggles against apartheid, AIDS, homophobia, and the oppression of Palestinians. He brings radical imperfection to his work as a white antiracist educator.

Steve loves to travel around the country and around the world, and attends classical music concerts whenever he can.  He is an avid fan of science fiction (Octavia Butler, N. K. Jemisin, Star Trek, Kim Stanley Robinson...), and of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Steve is single, no children, and is a devoted uncle to an adult niece and nephew.
