Welcome!

Hi everybody!

Welcome to the website for the Re-Center. This venture grew out of the meeting of a lingering awareness that a facility like this was needed and a huge load of useful materials recovered from an institution that recently closed. With just a handful of people volunteering time, effort and personal space, we’ve already managed to redistribute clothing, bedding, books, sports and school equipment, furniture and more to dozens of individuals, aid organizations and small businesses in town. But doing so has meant individuals housing the items in transition on their own property and having people come through to pick what they need.

This just made plain how much need there is for a central, public location for people to drop off and pick up useful items that otherwise would have ended up in a landfill.  We are looking for a good, central location, preferably a currently unused or underused building and a crew of people willing to donate time, share in the organizational process and the responsibilities of management.

Any suggestions for a location are welcome. And if you want to be involved let us know. You can also sign up for the recently formed Yahoo Group to join in the group discussion as this venture grows and develops.

FUND RAISING FURNITURE SALE!

To help fund the start-up of the Re-Center, we’re selling some of the furniture we’ve recovered at very affordable prices. Even if you don’t need furniture, please consider printing out and distributing the poster available in the sidebar to the right. :)

SofaPicWEBThis furniture was from an institution that closed and had to clear out quickly. They’re slightly used, with some dings and scratches and the occasional bit of graffiti, but very solid and durable with comfortable, washable vinyl cushions.

Sofas $25, Love seats $15, Chairs $10. Available for pick-up here in Cummington.
Contact Mike at 634-5591 or mike@titaniumarts.com.

All proceeds from the sale of this furniture will go towards establishing a central location for the Re-Center in the hilltowns.
Thanks a bunch and we hope to hear from you!
