Development & Communications Manager
Esther believes that positive investments in leadership and education can change the realities of people and families served by nonprofits. A native of Haiti, Esther fell in love with nonprofits while in high school. Inspired by an excursion to Mali to build a school and by her service as an AmeriCorps VISTA, Esther quickly developed a deep passion for charitable work, social justice, racial justice, philanthropy, and gender equity.
She has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Nonprofit Management & Philanthropy and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in International Studies. In just the first few years of her career, Esther co-founded a nonprofit and helped to launch a consulting practice.
Before RE·Center, Esther lead programs, philanthropy, and marketing initiatives. As a consultant, she facilitated race-equity workshops for municipalities, nonprofits, & colleges. Esther provided workforce readiness services for disconnected and disengaged youth, coordinated youth financial coaching and education programs.
In 2020, Esther made an intentional decision to take the next step in her career, which brought her to RE·Center. Her passion for social justice, philanthropy, and education made RE·Center a perfect fit. Esther is excited to join RE·Center because she believes fundraising is all about leadership and relationship building. Even though people of color are increasingly wealthy and are donating significant sums to good causes, most fundraisers spend their time pursuing gifts from white high-net-worth people. Esther wants to play a part in changing the nonprofit donor landscape.
Esther is fluent in English, French, and Haitian Creole – often leveraging her multilingual skillset to facilitate community conversations and to lead focus groups and seminars for ESL and ELL populations.
In her spare time, Esther enjoys cooking and sharing recipes on her Food blog. Esther has a podcast with her best friend. She loves Interior decorating, drawing, and watching movies. Esther also enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family and being an Equity Coach.
